International Ceramists Pay Homage to Jose Marti in Cuba

 

Havana, April 12 (ACN) An exhibition of ceramics inspired by the journalistic work, poetry and essays of Cuban National Hero Jose Marti is being displayed on the walls of the oldest building of Cuba's  Island of Youth.

 

The building, located in the historic center of the capital Nueva Gerona, is exhibiting a collection of some 200 ceramic plaques.

 

The initiative is sponsored by the " Art of Fire " Cuban-American project which has brought together the work of renowned artists from eleven countries including Argentina, Italia, Germany, United States, Colombia, Canada, Brazil, Dominican Republic, Spain, Chile and Cuba.

 

Cuban painters Pedro Pablo Oliva, Nelson Domínguez, Alberto Lezcay, Agustín Villafaña and Ernesto Rancaño; Argentinean ceramist Vilma Villaverde and US citizen Katherin Merrill are among the participants in this project.

 

Antonio Lewis Belgrove, the main promoter of the initiative, said this exhibition, besides paying homage to Cuban National Hero Jose Marti, aims to extend solidarity and understanding among ceramists around the world.
